Performing Arts Center, Clemson University Competition
Clemson, South Carolina

A 500 seat theater, an experimental theater, a library, main lobby, practice facilities for a large school band, music rooms, dance studios, and administrative offices were the major design requirements for a 70,000 square foot performing arts center for Clemson University and the surrounding community. As designed, the center is a “living stage” where actors, musicians, and dancers can be seen practicing as well as performing. In spirit and in form, the center reflects the Appalachian Mountain countryside and the musical folk instruments of its people.
